Minnesota Public Television AssociationAs the Minnesota Channel developed, there was great interest in providing this unique program service - including coverage of the Minnesota Legislature - throughout the State. In 2007, the Minnesota Public Television Association (MPTA) stations approached the State with a proposal to connect all of the stations and the State Capitol with a new fiber-optic network. The measure was approved and the Minnesota Channel has been launched statewide. For the first time in the history of the state, all of the public television stations serving Minnesota are now interconnected, and are joining together to broadcast the Minnesota Channel. This interconnection provides a unique opportunity for service to our state and communities and the MPTA is pleased to provide this source of education and civic knowledge to all Minnesotans. The MPTA is a loose affiliation among the six independent organizations which provide PBS television services to the residents of Minnesota and it is comprised of: KSMQ in Austin; Lakeland Public Television in Bemidji and Brainerd; PBS Eight in Duluth, Pioneer Public in Appleton/Worthington; Prairie Public in Fargo/Grand Forks, and Twin Cities Public Television (tpt) in the Metro area.
